Meet Melanie

Hi, I am Melanie! I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of North Texas and the Director of the Smart Polymers for Biomedical Research Lab. I am originally from Germany, a first-generation student, and a woman in STEM.
As someone who has successfully navigated their way through academia, I am eager to share my experiences from all stages to help you thrive in this (sometimes hostile) environment.
